Guide to Buying Bed Linen

Guide to Buying Bed Linen

Helpful tips on how to buy bed linen from Good Night Linen.

Good Night Linen is the South African and Africa distributor that form part of the team Beaumont & Brown.uk that has been helping people sleep well for over 30 years and has a depth of knowledge about what to look for when purchasing the finest quality bed linen.  Beaumont & Brown is a renowned company supplying quality bed linen to five star hotels globally.  Now you can buy that quality through our website www.goodnightlinen.com and enjoy at home.

Founder and Director of Beaumont & Brown.uk Robin Beaumont offer his advice.

·         “Invest in quality sheets but don’t buy anything too dense – for optimum comfort and care that maximum thread-count worth considering should be no higher than 600T.  The ideal thread-count is 400T percale.  A great tip is if you see a high thread-count always ask to make sure a fine single ply yarn is used.  There is a misconception that the denser the better and this is certainly not the case.

·         I suggest not being overly hung up on buying Egyptian Cotton.  The Egyptian Cotton “brand” is heavily marketed and the reality is that high quality, long staple cotton is made all over the world, the top five cotton producing countries are actually China, USA, India, Pakistan and Brazil.  Much so called Egyptian Cotton is actually imported from these countries to meet demand.

·         When selecting your sizes allow for shrinkage; well-finished cotton will shrink around 3% after the first wash and then never again.  Reputable companies allow for this and the sizes given are after the estimated shrinking of the first wash.

·         It isn’t necessary to buy polyester for crease free bedding.  Polyester can be quite uncomfortable to sleep under and hot in summer.  If high quality cotton yarn is used and it is finished properly, 100% Cotton bed linen shouldn’t crease that much and any lines should fall out after a few hours use.

·         Like shoes – If you find sheets you like, buy multiple sets! Neutral colours are always a good option as they won’t date.  White will still be fresh and current even in 20 years.”

Good Night Linen has sublimely soft and luxurious, crisp white bed linen, found in top five-star hotels around the world.  Available up to super king size with 400 thread count percale, extra length and depth, the gorgeous white bed linen is incredibly soft to touch due to the quality of the finishing process – 5* sleep almost guaranteed!
